Description

Recent data from animal and human studies suggest boron may be important for mineral metabolism, brain function and performance, hormone regulation, and bone health.

Boron is necessary for steroid hormone metabolism in humans, affecting the levels of estrogens and testosterone, in part by protecting them from degradation.

Boron appears to inhibit the synthesis of leukotrienes (chemicals that help maintain a normal inflammatory response), reduce free radical production, and suppress an over-active antibody expression.

Boron deficiency can impact mineral metabolism, cognitive function, steroid hormone and vitamin levels, and bone integrity.

Clinical evidence suggests a role for boron for bone support and mineralization, and connective tissue support.

Picolinic acid is a natural mineral chelator produced in the body. It is produced from the amino acid tryptophan in the liver and kidneys and is transported to the pancreas. During digestion, it is secreted from the pancreas into the small intestine, where it binds to minerals to facilitate their absorption.
